Each nation has its own traditions. Each tradition makes its nation special and unique. Not all traditions are still used, but everyone remembers about them, there are traditions without which it is already impossible to imagine life.

The British are very proud of their traditions, as they are fundamentally different from other traditions of the nation. For example, they still strictly adhere to customs such as playing cricket or driving on the left. The British still, unlike others, measure distances not in kilometers, but in miles. There is not always logic in their traditions. They often play darts in country pubs, and sometimes checkers or chess.

The British look cold-blooded from the outside, they are not accustomed to showing their feelings, but still they are sociable people with a good sense of humor who have love.

English traditions are manifested in restraint in judgments as a sign of respect for their interlocutor. They have a tendency to deny, using at the same time: "maybe", "I think", etc.

For dinner, the British change into some other clothes. Holidays customs traditions of Great Britain all residents try to adhere to.

Many festivals are attributed to the traditions and customs of the British. The most popular takes place in May in Chelsea. The most solemn and grandiose holiday of the country is the Queen's Birthday.

Sport is also a tradition - the Boat Race takes place at the end of March, football, tennis competitions, yachting.

As for unusual traditions, in this regard there is a place on which to focus your attention. Interesting traditions of Great Britain include such competitions as the ability to make a face, which is based on the ability to make ugly grimaces; running with rolling cheese. This competition, which takes place on the last Monday in May, attracts people from everywhere. Cheese is let down the slope, and the participants catch up with it; dancing around the maypole. Dances around a tall pillar, which is decorated in advance with multi-colored ribbons and garlands; pearlescent king and queen. It is one of the charitable cultural traditions of the London working class. Such traditions of Great Britain and Russia are not at all similar. There is no such thing in Russia.

The peculiarity of the national cuisine is that the natural characteristics of food are only emphasized, and not changed beyond recognition. There is a unique set of local specialties, such as Yorkshire pudding and baked cream tea served with roast beef. Norfolk turkey, tender lamb, fried pâtés, Aylesbury ducks - gourmet food.

Musical traditions play an important role in people's lives. The musical culture of Great Britain has been shaped by the various nations of this country. Jazz and folk music have become very popular. The country's musical traditions are multifaceted and distinctive. Classical Covent Garden is famous all over the world for its musical performances. In England, an opera festival is held every year, to which tourists from near and far abroad love to come. UK traditions are reflected in vibrant festivals. Various types of art are demonstrated at the festivals: dramatic, theatrical, choral art [1, c. 32-33].

Next, we'll take a look at tea traditions.Tea etiquette in the UK is by no means limited to one type of tea, usually guests are offered up to 10 varieties to choose from. A tea table is placed by the fireplace in the living room. Tea drinking traditions in Great Britain are trying to be followed. The tablecloth is blue or white. For the ceremony - a kettle with tea, tea pairs, a jug of boiling water, a milkman with cream or milk, dessert plates for snacks, a fork and a knife for guests, teaspoons, a strainer stand and a strainer, sugar tongs, a sugar bowl with lump sugar and woolen cover directly for the teapot with tea. All dishes must be from one set. Traditionally, afternoon tea is regularly served with cinnamon toast, salted butter, bread, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, eggs, biscuits, macaroons, jams, crumpets, rolls, cakes and pastries, as well as sandwiches. Tea is brewed according to certain rules. To do this, you need to participate in the tea ceremony and see everything in person.

It is worth noting the New Year traditions. In England, for example, as soon as 12 blows are heard, the British run to open the back door of the house (the old year is leaving) and open the front door - so that they can enter and please for the whole year - New Year.

In Scotland, New Year is called Hogmaney. On this night, the townspeople roll burning barrels through the streets, burning off the old year and making room for a new one. The locals are also very sensitive to the 1st guest on January 1. Usually the first guest, having entered the house, silently goes to the fireplace - the heart of the house - and throws a coal there, and only then wishes and congratulations sound [2, c. 15]. The first guest is always treated. For the New Year, the Scots bake a cake - sand, round, richly decorated with sweets, almonds and candied fruits.

In Wales, local farmers invite all those who worked and diligently worked in the harvest to the New Year's table.

We can make a conclusion that people in Great Britain are proud of their traditions and try to keep them up.
