Abstract. English is the most widely spoken language globally, used daily across various countries. Consequently, there is a strong desire among individuals to learn and achieve proficiency in English. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have become integral to enhancing second language acquisition. This article explores how AI is revolutionizing the English language, from innovative language learning applications to advanced translation technologies. Additionally, it examines the impact of AI on vocabulary expansion, real-time updates with new slang and terms, and the accessibility of ready-made educational content, highlighting AI’s profound influence on linguistic proficiency and education.

Keywords: Artificial Intelligence (AI), language learners, apps, speaking skills, vocabulary, linguistic industry.

Imagine a world where language barriers dissolve effortlessly, conversations flow seamlessly across cultures, and learning a new language feels more like an exciting journey. This vision is rapidly becoming a reality thanks to the curative power of artificial intelligence (AI). The rise of AI has sparked widespread concerns, with stereotypes suggesting that AI tools capable of immediate translations and on-demand language generation might displace traditional language learning process. This perspective, while popular, overlooks the immense potential of AI to enhance linguistic proficiency. Rather than eliminating the need for language practice, AI is transforming the process, making it more engaging and effective. AI technologies are alleviating the tedious aspects of language learning, transforming how we acquire, use, and teach languages, particularly English. By utilizing AI, we can immerse ourselves in a rich linguistic environment, gaining insights and skills that were previously out of reach. This revolution is not just about convenience, it is about enriching our linguistic landscape, fostering deeper connections, and opening up new realms of communication and comprehensive understanding.

The tools and apps based on the contribution of the artificial intelligence are beneficial for users, because the free communication with AI practice partner is easily approached from different parts of the world. Moreover, interaction components of humor, empathy, and cultural differences in AI dialogue are provided and indeed such strategies enhance the motivation, psychological well – being and intercultural competence of learners’. Additionally, the use of AI technologies in facilitating cross-cultural communication and preserving intangible cultural heritage were examined, demonstrating that AI technologies can bridge cultural gaps, translate languages, and foster an understanding of diverse traditions and cultural practices [1, p.10–12]. In actuality, the dialogue with AI partner makes easier to avoid mistakes of pronunciation, as it helps to choose the level of your English, imitate different accents and immerse into the process of communication everywhere you want. A variety of AI voice chatbots could be accounted for studying English such as ELIZA, ALICE, Cleverbot, Elbot, Talk to Eve, Replika, Lyra, Andy English Bot, Poket Friend, Mondly, and Duolingual [2, p.8–9].

The cost-effectiveness is a major problem that prompts the implication of AI in language processing models [3, p.5–7]. Traditional methods often require substantial investments in textbooks, classroom instruction, and personal tutors. In contrast, AI applications can provide personalized, on-demand instruction at a fraction of the cost. Directly, language processing models immediately update the vocabulary range based on the environmental changes, humanity achievements and inventions by adding new slangs, terms or words in regular basis. Also, the artificial intelligence possesses the complex of ready – made content, tailored to the learner’s proficiency level and interests, which guides and gives the opportunity for unrestricted access. Hence, AI tools can significantly enhance vocabulary acquisition by exposing learners to a vast array of words and phrases in different contexts.

AI is revolutionizing language learning, enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and personalization. It reduces costs, expands vocabulary, and keeps learners updated with new slang and terms. With AI’s open shelf access to diverse and ready-made content, the learning experience becomes more engaging and effective. As AI continues to evolve, it will further transform language education, making it more inclusive and dynamic. Ultimately, AI is not just preserving the English language but propelling its evolution, fostering global communication and understanding in unprecedented ways.
